1941-2021
DIck Dufner was a corporate CFO and my Godfather. He passed away this week from complications after a heart attack.
Last year when I came back to Pittsburgh, he and Diane made me instantly feel welcome. They worked on the job sites, and we’d often head to Riley’s Irish Pub for dinner on a Saturday night. I’m so grateful for the time we were able to spend together.
As one of the founding members of “Team Grey”, he was sometimes frustrated that he didn’t already know how to do something, or weren’t able to get it 100% perfect. I think that’s natural for someone who was so good at his professional craft- to take him out of his element and drop him into a job site was quite a turnabout. (I credit my Godmother for that 🙂 ). But every day, I’d remind him that whatever he got done was one less thing I needed to do the next day, and I was always thankful for that. Mostly, though, I’ll miss his kindness and support.
